SOAS Open Economics Forum

The SOAS Open Economics Forum is a student society created to promote plurality of ideas, paradigms and theories in economics.

Our aim is to bring to light debates marginalised by the academic curriculum and mainstream media, feeding the curiosity of students and non-students alike.

Notable
Achievements

- The biggest economics society at SOAS.
- Organised public talks and seminars with speakers such as Ha-Joon Chang, Paul Mason (economics editor at Channel 4 News), and Jacqueline Minor (European Commission representative to the UK).
- Runs Cakeonomics, engaging non-economists in talks on current economic issues.

We hope to create fertile environments where individuals are encouraged to ask critical questions about the role of economics in the social sciences and society, so that new insights into the problems of our changing world can emerge.
