Open Economics Uganda
Open Economics Uganda was founded in August 2015 initially in the names of Africa’s Young Economist’s Network (AYE), operating within Makerere University, Kampala. Later, the name was changed to Open Economics Uganda (OEU) in April 2016. We held our first event on 27th April 2016 in the form of a public debate at Makerere University, titled “Who is an Economist?” The guest panelists at the debate were Associate Prof. Bbaale Edward, Dean school of Economics, Makerere University and Dr. Muhumuza Fred, research specialist at Financial deepening Uganda.
As of December 2016, OEU was registered nationally so we are now operating within Uganda. Our Vision is to make Economics accessible, engaging, pluralistic, and relevant to Uganda’s sustainable development needs.
