Critique (Initiative for Pluralism in Economics)

We are a group of people with a deep frustration at the suffocating focus on mainstream economics. We do not think that the problem is that neoclassical economics is taught in and of itself, but rather that we only encounter this school of thought in the classroom.

Graduating economics studies, we realise how much is missing from our methodological foundation, in both philosophical and technical terms. We believe a diverse curriculum, encompassing a range of different schools of thought, is key to any economics education. In this modern world of interdisciplinarity, economists need the critique of other sciences.

Our short-term mission is to organise reading groups, so that people can start educating themselves on the economic schools of thought we are not taught formally. In that sense, we aim to organise those presentations and lectures that we, as students, would have liked to attend.
