Rethinking Economics Auckland

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and many other global issues, our group was founded to embrace pluralism and diversity in economics education in New Zealand and encourage an interdisciplinary approach to solving global challenges. We aim to build a local community of critical Rethinkers who study beyond the limits of most university curricula and reform economics education at NZ universities.

To this end, we will create a local reading group to exchange viewpoints on global political and economic affairs. We will run Rethinking Economics workshops at different venues across NZ and organize guest speaker events to spark innovative, game-changing ideas. To make economics more accessible and effectively raise awareness, we also plan to undertake creative endeavours, such as film projects or exhibitions.
