Rethinking Economics Lugano
Rethinking Economics Lugano is a student association based at the Università della Svizzera italiana (University of Lugano), Switzerland. We promote interdisciplinarity and pluralism in Economics and its related subjects, fighting especially against the dogmatism within the teaching of the discipline at the tertiary education level. In particular, we focus – jointly with the national network Rethinking Economics Switzerland – on facing these issues among the Economics departments of the Swiss universities.
Our group was born on September 2017, originally founded by three students of the Master in Economics and International Policies. Today, the student association includes members from different background and faculties, including Economics, Marketing and Management: Leonardo Conte, Michele Corengia, Mattia Albertini, Giovanni Kraushaar, and Annamaria Cattaneo.
We ran six official events in the last two years, with guest speakers from different local and international institutions such as the University of Lugano, University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Italian Switzerland, University of Fribourg, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Franklin University Switzerland, Swiss National Bank, and United Nations Institute for Training and Research.
We succeeded in having a new course in Critical History of Economic Thought established at the University of Lugano starting from this September. Find the details here - https://content.usi.ch/sites/default/files/storage/attachments/press/press-eco-bando-storia-critica.pdf
