The mission of Rethinking Economics UVM is to foster economic education that is sustainable, just, and efficient at providing quality of life for people, while protecting the ecological foundation in which the economy and society are embedded. We believe that economic education needs to be based on how the real world works, on critical and systems thinking, and on pluralism, because the social and ecological challenges that we face cannot be addressed without these principles. We also believe that students should have a say in the economics curriculum they are being taught, to ensure that we are preparing them to understand and face these challenges and opportunities with the most diverse and realistic economic knowledge available.
